A cyclone named “Victor”  crossed Honiara yesterday noon, resulting in 6 people’s death, 18 people having been treating in hospital for minor injuries.

 More than 100 people in total were homeless. The cyclone also brought about more than 20 houses destroyed. A number of other buildings suffering considerable structure damage, according to local police.

Actually, before that, the meteorologists at the Nadi Weather Centre have detected out the cyclone. And they contacted the Solomon Islands government as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, government officials immediately put emergency plans into operation and strived for putting the  loss to the least.
