Six people died and eighteen people were injured as Cyclone “Victor” hit Solomon Island yesterday.
Yesterday morning, the cyclone “Victor” developed rapidly near Nauru to the Solomon Islands and ended in the Coral Sea. Although the government has put emergency plans immediately, “Victor” still caused six deaths. Over 20 buildings were destroyed and hundreds people are still homeless in Honiara.By 10 a.m., winds were blowing at more than 140 kilometers per hour.
Mopping-up operations has started in Honiara. The emergency services are still awaiting news from outlying districts but believe that Honiara is the worst area.
