Yesterday, the cyclone “Victor” killed 6 people in Honiara and made 18 people injured. Also, it  destroyed more than 20 houses in this area and caused more than 100 people to be homeless.

 

The six victims include four men and two women. Three men of them drowned when their cars was blown off the road into a river. The flying debris killed the other man and the two women. Also, 18 people were injured in the accidence. Then, they were sent to a hospital. By 10 a.m. yesterday, the wind speed in Honiara reached more than 140 kilometres per hour. It destroyed more than 20 houses, which made more than 100 people homeless. also, there were many other buildings sustained considerable structural damage. Mopping-up operations have started in Honiara. The emergency services are still awaiting news from outlying districts but believe that Honiara has been the worst affected. Now, Mopping-up operations have started in Honiara.
